I hear it all the time. "Bar soaps dry your skin out." "Bar soaps are bad for your skin." "Don't use bar soaps! They're too harsh!" Well I'm here to tell you a little secret...
NOT ALL BAR SOAPS ARE CREATED EQUALLY!
Am I shouting? Probably, because these generic one-size-fits-all statements are SO far from the truth! Sure, there are plenty of harmful chemical laden commercial bar soaps out there that fit that bill. They DO dry your skin out. They ARE bad for your skin. They ARE bad for our planet. And you should never, EVER use them.
But today there are many natural and organic bar soaps handcrafted by skilled artisans that actually do none of those harmful things. They're completely safe (for both people and planet). They're ultra moisturizing (if formulated correctly). They're also super mild (again, if made correctly). And they make your skin feel absolutely wonderful! Anybody who's ever used cheap commercial bar soaps and then switched to finely handcrafted bar soaps knows this is true. Try it yourself and you'll see what I mean.
You'll also hear people claim that bar soap is gross and unsanitary. That it's covered with germs and it even transmits disease! Well that myth has been busted too and you can read all about it here.
Handmade bar soaps kill germs naturally without harmful antibacterial agents like triclosan and they have lots of other advantages too. They're not packaged in plastic which is becoming a huge problem for our increasingly polluted world. They're actually cheaper than liquid soaps (which are mostly water) because you're not paying for all that water + a plastic bottle. And I just find they're easier to use all around. Plus a well crafted bar of handmade soap feels good in your hand. I don't think you can say the same for a blob of liquid soap or gel. Am I right?
Finally, I want to make one more VERY important point here. Not all handmade soaps are created equally either! While there a lot of great handmade soaps out there from both large and small makers, there are also a TON of inexperienced soapmakers peddling inferior handmade soap to anybody who walks by their booth. I've heard it over and over. "I've used handmade soap but it dried my skin out." "I tried handcrafted soap once but it didn't last more than a few washes." Or "I tried handmade soap and it gave me an itchy rash!" UGH. Remember. Not all handmade soaps are created equally.
Soapmaking is an art. It's also a learned skill that needs to be practiced and perfected before hanging out a for sale sign. With over 23 years of hard earned natural soapmaking experience under our belts, you can be assured that you're getting the finest handcrafted organic bar soaps in the world when you choose A Wild Soap Bar. And hey, if you still don't like bar soaps, we've got you covered with our organic shower gels as well.
So either way...go ahead...TAKE A WASH ON THE WILD SIDE! You'll be so glad you did. I promise.
